ORBIT EXCEL Travel Insurance Hazardous Activities 

Orbit Excel includes cover for your participation in the hazardous activities listed below, up to a maximum age of 35 years at departure date, plus additional activities as per the Underwriters full policy wording:- 


  1. Bungee Jumping - short duration incidental day excursion with licenced public hirer; 
  2. Canoeing - subject to wearing protective head gear and life vest; Excludes White Water; 
  3. Cycling - excludes BMX riding; 
  4. Deep Sea Fishing; 
  5. Horse Riding - subject to wearing protective head gear - no competitions/jumping; 
  6. Mountain Biking - subject to wearing protective head gear - up to Grade 2 slopes only; 
  7. Paragliding - over water NOT land - through licenced operator only; 
  8. Sailing - no competitions, exclude Liability - in territorial waters within 12 miles of land; 
  9. Scuba Diving - to maximum of 100 feet (30 metres), providing a Certificate of Proficiency is held or that you are diving with a qualified instructor; 
  10. Surfing; 
  11. Trekking/Hiking - below 16,000 feet only; 
  12. Water Skiing; 
  13. White Water Rafting - when adequately supervised, subject to wearing protective head gear and life vest - up to Grade 3 only; 
  14. Wind Surfing - no competitions, exclude Liability;

  1. Maximum age limit at date of departure is 55 years. 
  2. Winter Sports cover is available - click here Personal Accident is deleted when participating in Hazardous Activities. 
  3. All premiums are subject to 20% Insurance Premium Tax. 
  4. Cover is available to all UK and EU residents. 
  5. You are allowed one return journey to the UK for up to 28 days 
  6. Hazardous activities are only available up to a maximum age of 35 years at departure date.

The level of MEDICAL INSURANCE is £10,000,000. 

The ORBIT EXCEL provides cover up to a maximum age of 55 years in THREE Areas - EUROPE, AUSTRALASIA and WORLDWIDE. Please view the definition of AUSTRALASIA as this Area additionally covers a number of individual islands. Our main UNIQUE FEATURE under this long stay travel insurance product is ONE RETURN JOURNEY back to the UK at any time during the period of insurance for up to 28 days. This is a useful extra for student travel or within the backpacker insurance whilst travelling around the world. We can also provide the additional facility for further EXTENSIONS OF PERIOD up to a maximum duration of 12 MONTHS. 

You may also be able to take advantage of the 30 DAYS allowed outside the areas of EUROPE and AUSTRALASIA. This would be most useful on your outward journey and if you want some flexibility towards the end of your trip.
